Chester Historical Society Announces 2025 Scholarship Winner
In Spring 2025 the Historical Society Board of Trustees voted to award a $1,000 scholarship to a Chester graduating senior or current college student with a demonstrated interest in history, historic preservation, museums, and/or the environmental impact on historic sites.
We are delighted to announce Jack Guthrie as our first scholarship recipient. A Valley Regional graduate, Jack will be entering his senior year in the Honors Program for History at UConn (Storrs) and is double majoring in Political Science.
Jack’s application stood out for its insight and sincerity. He wrote, “I am writing a memoir about growing up in Chester, chronicling how this town has shaped my values and aspirations. I believe history must be preserved not only through documents and artifacts but also through storytelling and civic participation.”
We congratulate Jack and look forward to seeing the impact he will continue to make—both in Chester and beyond.
